Ramadan is the time of fasting for the Muslim world during the 9th month of their lunar calendar year. This year, it will be from August 1-30. The name Ramadan stems from words that mean intense heat and dryness, because during this season they seek to burn away their sins through fasting and giving up pleasures. Their fast is from sunrise to sunset with the last 10 days considered the most blessed.
